When Asana is the better choice
Choose Asana if you need forms, portfolios, a workflow builder or its 260+ integrations today, or if the rest of your company already works in Asana.
What Asana is
Asana is a work management tool used by all kinds of teams. It has a workflow builder, forms, portfolios and more than 260 integrations. Its HR templates cover onboarding and offboarding, candidate tracking and an HR project plan. There is no seat minimum, and paid plans include unlimited free guests.
Where Asana is stronger
- Workflow builder and forms. Asana has both. HRjects has neither. A no-login issue form for testers is planned.
- Portfolios. Asana has them. A portfolio view is planned for HRjects and not built.
- Integrations. Asana lists more than 260. HRjects has none today.
- Flexibility. Asana is a general tool you can shape to many kinds of project. HRjects has seven fixed workspaces.
- Track record. Asana is established. HRjects is in preview.
Where HRjects is different
Asana offers an HR project plan template among its HR templates. HRjects gives you a plan that already contains the work of an HR system rollout:
- Four phases with gates. Exit criteria are specific to HR rollouts, and each tick records who and when.
- Eight HR workstreams and five teams, so the board can be filtered to "Payroll tasks owned by Finance".
- Process maps with current-state and future-state steps side by side. Pain points feed the business case, and gaps become tasks.
- A parallel payroll tracker and a go-live readiness score that gives a Go or No-go.
- A business case workspace with payback in months and three-year net.
When we checked its HR pages and template gallery on October 8, 2026, we found nothing specific to HR software implementation, such as phase gates with HR exit criteria, current-versus-future process maps tied to tasks, parallel payroll tracking or a go-live readiness score. That is what we found on those pages on that date, and the product may be able to do more.
Price
Asana lists Starter at $10.99 and Advanced at $24.99 per user per month billed annually, with no seat minimum and unlimited free guests on paid plans. HRjects is free during the preview. Its Team plan is planned at $15 per editor per month billed annually and is not on sale yet. Contributors and Guests are free in HRjects.
Which to choose
Choose Asana if your company already works in it, if you need forms, portfolios or integrations now, or if the HR system rollout is one project among many that should sit together. Choose HRjects if you want the HR-specific structure without building it, and you can live without integrations for now. To judge that, look at the go-live readiness checklist and ask how long it would take you to rebuild it elsewhere.
